Shvil Yisrael

My Journey

Let's start with the fact that on October 7th 2023 I lost the son of my closest friend Ilay Nachman. He was murdered at the Nova Music Festival.

I took the first flight available to sit shiva with Eyal and his family in Israel. While there, l continued to train for "Marathon De Sables” an ultra marathon called and one of the all time toughest races on earth with a drop out rate of 47%. This ultra marathon is held in the blazing heat of the Sahara Desert of Morocco covering 252 km over seven days. And carrying all the mandatory and necessary food and equipment required for survival during the week (12kg).

While sitting shiva, I called my cousin, Rani, who is also an avid runner and asked if he would like to go training? He said he was currently serving in the IDF, as a reserve, in Gaza. But he was excited by Marathon des Sables and asked me to sign him up. Sadly, this was not to be as a month later Rani was killed in Gaza by Hamas.

I decided to dedicate my journey on Marathon Des Sable to all those suffering and directly impacted since 7th Oct 2023. I managed to raise $65,000.

During the race I met two fellow Israelis, David Cohen now living in South Africa and Yossi Yahalom who lives in Jerusalem. I told them about my dream to run the National Israel Trail in honour of our warriors, all our IDF solders who have been injured while in service and can only now dream of using their limbs or other senses, let alone running. Together we will run the National Israel Trail over 24 days, every day 43km completing a total of 1032 km and while doing so raising much needed funds for Beit HaLochem.

From 19th Sept 2025 to 14th October 2025 which is the Hebrew date of Simchat Torah. Please not we will not run on Rosh Hashanah  and Yom Kippur.

I want to invite anyone who wants to join us or simply cheer us on to sign up.  I already have a commitment of 23 international participants who will travel to Israel for this adventure.

It is truly a once in a lifetime experience for you all and an incredible challenge. It is a truly beautiful way to explore Israel. Please spread the word. Let’s really make this a large international event spreading peace and love and regeneration. Please share news of this incredible opportunity with your friends. All you need to do is get yourselves to Israel. We do not charge for this event, just a small $50 registration fee to express your commitment. That is it!

We are also always welcome to including more sponsors.  Please share this with anyone you think might be interested.

And see you on this adventure of a lifetime!
